Oh, please!

This report was all over TV this morning… http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25708495/  Low carb diets like Atkins beat healthier low fat or Mediterranean-style diets in a weight-loss study that lasted 2 years.  What they don’t want to talk about is that Atkins people lost an average of 12 pounds, Mediterranean-style diet eaters lost an average of 10 pounds.  Only a 2 pound difference.  Let’s see….. I can eat a slab of bacon for breakfast -OR- I can eat my normal bowl of fruit, bowl of “natural” cereal, and low-fat yogurt.   Hmmm…  I just realized the people on Atkins lost more weight because they probably vomited up their breakfasts!  Sorry.  Nobody can take away my pasta, bread, or fruit!  AND…. no matter HOW they try, they will NEVER convince me eating an Atkins style diet is good for me!

Want a cookie?

Yesterday I made cookies for the first time in oh so long. They are oatmeal with chocolate chips. Very yummy and partially good for you, unless like me, you eat 3! How does this figure into my diet? *sigh*

Diet mixing.

8 04 2008

Yes, like so many others, I’m dieting…. sort of.  I mix my diet plans.  I detest counting calories and “points” so I’m trying to cut down on calorie intake, stepping up my daily activities (per say), and attempting to eat better foods.  Note: “attempting” is the operative word.  Today breakfast was fresh fruits, yoghurt, and wheat toast.  BUT… the toast had orange marmalade on it and the yoghurt was strawberry.  I also had half ‘n half in my coffee.  On to lunch:  brown rice with mixed veg.  It was seasoned with soy sauce and oregano.  Not too bad.  I followed it with a biscotti and low fat milk.  Not bad that.  Now I’m on coffee break at work.  I have half a cup of coffee with non dairy creamer.  What with?  A Lindor chocolate truffle.  Alright, alright… I fail.  We’ll see how I do at dinner then.
